Innovative, authentic, art, design and fashion; all of which the Miami Design District embodies. It is a neighborhood north of Midtown, Miami. The District is home to over 130 art eateries and bars, showrooms, galleries, stores and antiques dealers.
The Miami Design District is owned by Miami Design District Associates, a partnership between Dacra which is owned and founded by visionary entrepreneur Craig Robins, and L Real Estate Miami native Craig Robins saw the potential of what now is Miami Design District 15 years ago by acquiring properties and redefining them to the beautiful district it is today. Robins and L Real Estate, over the years, have transformed the once-overlooked area into a lively destination for locals and visitors by showcasing an array of shopping, arts, culture, music and food within an architectural haven.
The District is home to many luxury stores and boutiques including Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Prada and more. Christian Louboutin marked a new era for the Design District when they opened their doors in 2009. Following that major milestone that same year, Yohji Yamamoto opened in the Design District. Today we can see brands like Sephora, Marc Jacobs, Fendi and Dior among many others. Presently, there are over 70 stores open in the District, with another 60 set to open sometime around mid-2017.
The Design District has put on a lot of events such as the community wide art and Design Night every second Saturday from 7-10 p.m. This month’s upcoming events to look out for include ‘OMG Picnic and a Party’, ‘ICA Summer Exhibition’, ‘All American Family Day’ and ‘Genuine Beer Court’.
The Parkway Museum District in Philadelphia is the epitome of Design districts and with an ever evolving design district such as Miami much greater things are set to come for the district.
