This past weekend Fort Lauderdale held its annual Pirate Festival. The spring’s signature event took place at Esplanade Park in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. The admission free event celebrated everything pirate. It was enjoyed by not only all types of pirate enthusiasts, but also by anyone who loves good family fun. The Pirate Festival had to offer something for everyone – good food, drinks, music, shows, awesome costumes, and activities for kids. The Festival started at 11:00 am and kept going until 7pm. Throughout the entire day there were different contests and shows that kept the crowd entertained at all times. Some of the contests to mention: “Best Rum Drink in Fort Lauderdale” - Local restaurants and bars competed to show who has the best drink. “Pet Costume Contest” – pets were dressed up in pirate costumes and gear. “Paddle Board Race” - Paddle boarders took to the New River for this event. Races were held for various age categories.
